Darrell Kingore

Darrell Lee Kingore, age 83, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully in his hometown of Joplin, on October 4, 2023. 

Born on March 22, 1940, in Joplin, to the late Howard and Nina (Wiles) Kingore, was a man of adventure, creativity, and love, whose life was filled with diverse interests and accomplishments.

Darrell served his country honorably in the United States Navy, a commitment that reflected his deep-seated values of service and patriotism. 








In 1959, he was united in marriage to Karen Banks in Joplin, she survives. His professional life was dedicated to the Missouri American Water Company, where he worked for 31 years before retiring in 1995.

Darrell was a man of many passions. Early in his life, he worked in stables and developed a love for the American Quarter Horse, eventually owning his own. He rode with the Missouri Governor’s Mounted Guard in 1974 and 1975. An avid runner and bicyclist, he was also a skilled sailboat Sailor and boat builder who sailed the Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico in Corpus Christi. His creative spirit was evident in his work with stained glass, crafting beautiful lamps and window hangings that showcased his artistic talent. In his later years, he enjoyed kayaking and searching for driftwood, which he would transform into unique items that he sold at local antique shops. In later years, Darrell lived in Okinawa, Japan at the US Base. During this time, he volunteered for the USO, which supported active-duty personnel.

Darrell is survived by his wife, Karen Kingore of Joplin; children, Darla Richardson, and her husband, Jim, of Joplin, Laura Lenhart, and her husband, Matt, of Neosho, and Darrell Kingore Jr., and his wife, Dana, of Ozark; his brother, Jerry Kingore, and his wife, Sandra, of Roseburg, OR; his grandchildren, Jeremy Richardson, Alisha Richardson, Matthew Lenhart, Luke Lenhart, Annie Lenhart, Dayton Kingore, Daelon Kingore, Dason Kingore, Drennon Kingore, and Dreanna Kingore; as well as his great-grandchildren, Brody Richardson, Darius Raney, Theodore Lenhart, and Ellenore Lenhart; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. 








In addition to his parents, Darrell was preceded in death by one brother, Wayne Kingore.

Private family services with full Military Honors will be held at Darrell’s final resting place, Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
