Gary Wayne Ross of Commerce, OK passed from this life Friday, October 13, 2023 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO. He was 76.

Gary was born December 2, 1946 in Miami, OK to Preston Deneen “Jack” and Mary Freda (Thompson) Ross. He had lived in Commerce area most of his life and graduated from Commerce High School Class of 1965. 

Gary was a disabled Viet Nam Veteran. He served aboard the USS Warrington DD843 during his 4 year tour of duty in the U.S. Navy. He worked in construction business with his dad. He married Lilly Payne November 5, 1970. They had one son Gary Wayne Noble Ross who was born December 6, 1972.

Gary is survived by his loving companion, Sharon Louise Brown of the home, 1 son Gary, Wayne Noble Ross of Deatsville, AL, 1 daughter Tammy Harding, 5 brothers, Captain Dale Ross, Preston Leroy Ross, Randall Ray Ross all of Commerce, OK, Carl Allen Ross of Godfry, OK and David Kent Ross of Wichita, KS, 5 sisters, Marilee Ellen Squirrel and Nancy Jane Smith both of Joplin, MO, Ethel Sue “Susie” Ross of Wyandotte, OK, Marjean Renee Flatter of Grove, OK and Debra “Debbie” Ross of Commerce, OK.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, OK. Interment will be in NEO Veterans Memorial Cemetery in North Miami, OK, awaiting the resurrection. 

Military Rites will be conducted by American Legion Post # 147 Funeral Detail. Norman Ross, Alexander Ross, Captain Ross, Jr., Michael Sims, Mikey Sims and Jeremy Harris will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday prior to services at the funeral home. Services have been placed in the care of Paul Thomas Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Miami, OK.
