Betty Ruth Moore, 87, of Carthage, Mo passed away Friday, June 24, 2016 at Webb City Health and Rehabilitation Center after several years of declining health.
Betty entered this life on January 19, 1929 in rural Oronogo, MO daughter of the late John and Olive (Buxton) Edwards. She was a graduate of Alba High School. On March 25, 1951 she was united in marriage to Glenn Eldon Moore and together they shared fifty six years until his passing on January 25, 2008. She was a devoted homemaker, she also worked in the offices of Campbell 66 Trucking, MFA Feed and oil, Tony Williams State Farm Insurance Agency, Jasper School District and Judy’s Convenience Store in Jasper MO. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Jasper, MO., Salem (quilting) Ladies Aid and Empire Baptist Church in Joplin, MO. She attended church at Salem Methodist and Jasper Methodist Church. She enjoyed ceramics, gardening, sewing, quilting and cooking for her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Glenn E. Moore; one son, Dale Moore, her parents, John and Olive Edwards; two sisters, Ida Mae Edwards and Mary Winans; one brother, John (Tom) Edwards and son in law, Thomas Broadaway.
Betty is survived by a daughter, Glenna Broadaway and a son, Grant Moore and wife Cindy all of Carthage, MO., two sisters, Hazel Trease and Elsie Trease of Quapaw, OK., and a brother, Carroll “Doc” Edwards of Joplin, MO., six grandchildren, Sarah Broadaway, Sabrina Broadaway, Stephanie Broadaway, Brian Moore and wife Misty, Monica More and Chelsea Doyle and husband Trenton; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Graveside funeral services for Betty are 10:00 a.m. at Paradise Cemetery, Carthage, Mo with Reverend John Christianson officiating. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Grant Moore, Brian Moore, Randy Trease, Dennis Trease, Gary Wampler and Leon Wagner. Honorary pallbearers are Carroll “Doc” Edwards, Cynthia Duncan and J.O.Buxton. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6-7:30 p.m. at Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home in Webb City, MO. Memorial contributions be directed to Paradise Cemetery in care of the funeral home. The family wishes to thank Webb City Health and Rehabilitation Center and caregiver, Lee Ann Day.
