Bill D. Spiva, Neosho, died June 15, 2016 at the age of 75. Bill was born Aug. 10, 1940 in Stella, Missouri, the son of William and Geraldine (Dickens) Spiva. He was a lifelong area resident and graduated from Neosho High School in 1958. He worked for Shade Tree Utility and then at Interstate Securities and had lived in Arizona and Springfield, returning to Neosho in 1978.
Upon returning to Neosho, he and his wife, Linda, established Spiva Realty and worked actively in the real estate business until selling the business and retiring. Bill was an avid supporter of youth and established the Pizza Hut Basketball league and had coached football, basketball and baseball. He had served as President of Crowder College Booster Club as well as Neosho High School Booster Club. He was a member of the Neosho Shrine Club and Masonic Lodge and was instrumental in the building of the current Masonic Lodge. He had served as president of the Newton County Board of Realtors and was a member of the Racine Christian Church.
Bill and Linda McNeely were married on July 29, 1961 at the Neosho United Methodist Church and she survives. Also surviving are two children, Debbie Scott and husband Doug and Michael Spiva and wife, Jenny all of Neosho; four grandchildren, Jordan Daniel and husband, Austin; Coleman Scott, Cade Spiva and Mason Spiva and a sister, Jeannine Lenger and husband, Steve of Joplin. Bill is preceded in death by his parents.
