Wilma Mae Hedge, age 91 of Joplin, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri following an extended illness.
Wilma was born July 20, 1924 in Gove County, Kansas to the late William S. Montgomery and Stella Mae McFarland. Early in life she worked for the Veterans Administration in Detroit, Michigan and also Schooley Stationary in Kansas City, Missouri prior to becoming a Housewife. Wilma was Protestant by faith.
On April 15, 1950 Wilma married Robert "Bob" Hedge in Joplin, he preceded her in death on January 3, 1993. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Jack Montgomery, Claude Montgomery and Wilbur Montgomery; a sister, Thelma McMullen and a step granddaughter, Teisha Dawn Devins.
Surviving Wilma includes a daughter, Joan Hedge and partner Steve Courtright of Vero Beach, Florida; sons, Robert Hedge and wife, Zoe of Diamond and Jon Hedge and wife, Teresa of Webb City; brother, John Montgomery and wife, Kuni of Springfield, Missouri; two grandchildren, three great grandchildren, three step grandchildren, seven step great grandchildren and four step great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services are planned for Saturday, June 11 at 10:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary with family receiving friends on Friday from 7-8:00 p.m. also at the mortuary.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
