Leona L. Lewis, 80, Lockwood, MO passed away Tuesday evening, June 14, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO. Leona Laura Meyer was born January 23, 1936 in Stotts City, MO to the late Walter Meyer and Anna (Schnake) Meyer. She married G.R. Lewis on July 3, 1960 in Miller, MO, he survives. Leona was a member of Gray’s Point Christian Church, a homemaker, loved spending time with her family, gardening, and in her later years making after school snacks for the kids.
Survivors include; her husband; two sons, Gary L. (wife Becky) Lewis, Carthage, and Warren L. (wife Linda) Lewis, Granby; one daughter, Joyce (husband Tracy) Harbaugh, Diamond; one sister, Bertha (husband Josh) Boswell, Springfield, MO; ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and two brothers.
Visitation will be held 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Knell Mortuary. Graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 17, 2016 at Red Oak Cemetery, Lawrence County, MO. Minister Ron Zimmerman will officiate. Memorial gifts are suggested to the Grey’s Point Christian Church or Red Oak Cemetery in care of Knell Mortuary, 308 W. Chestnut Street, Carthage, MO 64836.
