Imogene Blalock

Imogene Blalock, 80, of Monett, MO, passed from this life to her eternal home in Heaven on Sunday, June 26, 2016 while at her residence.

Imogene was born on November 2, 1935 in rural Monett, daughter of the late Arthur and Esther (Bandy) Peterson. She had attended school in Verona and was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Monett where she enjoyed going to Sunday school until her health declined. In her later years, Imogene worked for Kay’s Floral in Monett. She enjoyed working with flowers, at work and at home.

On September 14, 1957 in Monett, Imogene married Leroy “Pete” Blalock. To this union, one daughter was born. They were blessed with almost 59 years of wonderful memories made together.

Survivors include her husband, Pete Blalock, of the home; one daughter, Debbie Kenney, of Monett; two grandchildren, Darren Kenney and his wife Cassie, of Oronogo, MO and Carmen Hill and her husband Travis, of St. Charles, MO; two great-grandsons, Wesley and Jacob Kenney; one brother, Darrell Peterson and his wife Dorothy, of Pottsboro, TX; one sister, Mary Couch and her husband Wayne, of Dixon, CA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Imogene was preceded in death by four brothers, Arthur “Jr.” Peterson, Tobe Peterson, J.T. Peterson and Howard Peterson; and two sisters, Orba Finney and Susie Volkl.

Funeral services for Mrs. Blalock will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Buchanan Funeral Home with Dr. Bill Cox officiating. Interment will follow in the Spring River Cemetery, Verona. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions have been requested to the First Baptist Church in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
