Sandra Jones, 80, of Pittsburg, formerly of Independence, KS, passed away at 8:35 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at the Golden Living Nursing Center.
She was born December 9, 1935 at Topeka, Kansas, to Henry and Arlene (Kelly) DeNeve. She graduated from Pittsburg High School and attended Steven’s College in Columbia, Missouri. She lived in Pittsburg until moving to Independence, Kansas where she lived for 13 years, before moving back to Pittsburg. Mrs. Jones worked at the DeNeve Shoe Store, and then Sandra’s Shop. She also worked at Little’s Department Store and Ramsey’s. She then became the Club House Manager at Four Oaks Golf Course, where she worked for twenty-five years until she retired. Membership was held in the Church of Epiphany of Independence, Kansas. When living in Pittsburg, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, John Fauvergue of Carl Junction, MO and Brent Jones of rural Scammon, KS; two daughters, DeNeve (Jones) Connors and her husband, Michael of Independence, KS and Cindy Graves of Davisburg, MI; one sister, JoBayne Restivo of Pittsburg; and four grandchildren, Scott Graves, Suzanne Graves, Jimmy Connors and Kevin Connors. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Phil DeNeve
A private family graveside service will be held on Saturday (June 11) at the Hosey Hill Cemetery with Rev. Mark Chambers officiating. Burial will follow services. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday at the Brenner Mortuary to view Mrs. Jones and sign the register book. The family suggests memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
