George Pierce

George M. Pierce, Jr., 82, of Pittsburg, passed away at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Via Christi Hospital. 

He was born April 28, 1934 at Webb City, MO, to George M. and Cleva M. (Rackley) Pierce, Sr. He graduated from Buffalo High School in 1952. After high school he enlisted in the United State Army serving in France and Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1958. On August 16, 1964, he was united in marriage to Dorothy L. Coester in the First United Methodist Church at Girard, Kansas. She preceded him in death on February 15, 2015. Mr. Pierce worked for Wallite and then had his own business refinishing furniture for over 30 years. 

Survivors include a son, Ronald Pierce of the home; a daughter, Tammy Clothier and her husband, Fred of Pittsburg; a sister Betty L. Frederick of Aurora, CO; four grandchildren, Ayla Daugherty and her husband Josh of Pittsburg, Patrick Johnson and his wife Shelby of Joplin, Quinton and Gabriel Clothier, both of Pittsburg; and a great granddaughter Harper. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Dorothy L. Pierce. 

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday (June 20) at the Brenner Mortuary with Pastor James Fryer officiating. Burial will follow in the Crocker Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday at Brenner Mortuary in Pittsburg. Friends may leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com.
