Gerald D. Ridgway, age 68 of Oronogo passed away on Friday, June 10, 2016 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born on November 25, 1947 in Webb City to Calvin Ridgway and Norma Jean (Berry) Ridgway. Gerald was a member and a deacon of the New Providence Baptist Church, a United States Army Veteran serving one year in Vietnam and a retired United States Rural Postal Carrier for Oronogo.
He married Darlene (Roland) Ridgway on February 19, 1972 in Joplin and she survives. Gerald is also survived by his son, Travis Ridgway of Joplin; granddaughters, Hayley and Skyler Ridgway; father, Calvin Ridgway of Oronogo; brother, Terry Ridgway and wife Rosetta of Asbury; sisters, Wanda Hole of Carl Junction; Cindy Hataway and husband Ray of Carterville. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Renae Ridgway and his mother, Norma Jean Ridgway.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 10:00 AM at New Providence Baptist Church in Oronogo with Pastor Larry Shumaker officiating. The family will be present for a visitation on Monday from 6:00 Pm to 7:00 Pm at Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City. Burial will be in Weaver Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the New Providence Baptist Church in his memory.
