Joyce Crawford

Joyce “Leedy” Crawford, 80, passed away June 8, 2016 at her home in Carthage, Missouri, surrounded by family.. 

She was born September 28, 1935 in Carthage, MO to Claude Leedy and Lillie Louise Tatum Leedy. Joyce was a lifetime Carthage resident. She graduated class of 1953 of Carthage High School. She started working at JC Penney’s on the square and managed the Carthage store at the south end of town, working there for over 30 years. She was a former Girl Scout leader and belonged to various bowling leagues throughout the area. She loved to go camping, fishing and hunting and her favorite pass time was spending time with her husband, daughter, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.. 

Joyce was united in marriage to Bobby Crawford June 18, 1954 in Neosho, Missouri. She lost the love of her life on December 19, 2003. Joyce was survived by her daughter Lisa Crawford of Carthage, one sister Janice Orahood and husband David of Joplin, one brother Jim Leedy and wife Pam of Jasper, along with her four grandchildren Ethan Anderson, Valisha Bailey, Randi Taylor, Lane Alexander, and ten great grandchildren. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother Jack Leedy. 

Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday June 11, 2016 at Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday June 10, 2016 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s association or Breast Cancer Local chapter in care of Ulmer Funeral Home. Online condolence can be made at www.ulmerfh.com.
