Doris A. Gray, 85, Carthage, Mo., passed away Sunday evening, June 12, 2016 at her home. Doris Ann Swarens was born November 10, 1930 in Carthage to the late Carl Swarens and Dorothy (Neely) Swarens. She was a graduate of Carthage High School, Class of 1948. She worked in accounting and was self-employed. Doris married Bill Gray in April of 1993 in Carthage, MO; he preceded her in death on April 27, 2003. She was a Methodist by faith.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis Boothe (wife Jackie), Carthage, MO, and Gregg Boothe (wife Kathy), Cincinnati, OH; one brother, Bill Swarens, Carthage, Mo.; two sisters, Nancy Heath, Las Cruses, NM, and Linda Michaels, Augusta, GA; two step-sons, Will Gray (wife Sherry), Springfield, MO, and Dan Gray (wife Vicki), Chattanooga, TN; son-in-law, Charles Baker, Edmond, OK; fourteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Karen Baker, and one brother, Charles Swarens.
Visitation will be held 6:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Knell Mortuary. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m., Friday, June 17, 2016 at Knell Mortuary. Rev. James Lee will officiate. Inurnment will follow the service at Fasken Cemetery, Carthage. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com.
