Dwight Eugene Burrows, age 63 of Quapaw passed away at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX on June 10, 2016 after battling a long illness.
Dwight was born on October 1, 1952 to the union of Hollis Sylvester Burrows and Gertrude Blanche Burrows in Oswego, KS. He graduated in the class of 1970 from Oswego, KS High School.
Dwight has lived in Quapaw for the last 28 years and spent his entire life in the Four-State Area. In addition to running a successful excavating business, he and his wife owned D&S Farms where he pursued his primary passion of cattle ranching. He was a member of Activate Church in Miami, OK. He enjoyed pheasant hunting, fishing, horse racing, playing cards and games, telling jokes, and spending time with his family-especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Ruth (Meadows) Burrows of nearly 36 years. They were wed at Commerce Community Church on July 5, 1980.
Additional Survivors include two sons, Dr. Caleb Burrows (wife, Desiree) of Dayton, OH, and Blake Burrows (girlfriend, Alexa) of Quapaw; one daughter, Kandice Clemenson (husband, Jon) of San Antonio, TX; one brother, David “Mackie” Burrows (wife, Pat) of Mabank, TX; five sisters, Jeanie Anderson of Pryor, OK, Iris Paulus (husband, James) of Holly Lake, TX, Velma Nickel of Oswego, Lucy Godfrey of Joplin, MO, and Joy Delmont of Columbus; three grandchildren, Jon Clemenson III, Jacob Clemenson, and Jude Clemenson; and one grandson on the way, Beau Eugene Burrows.
Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers Floyd Burrows, Earl Burrows, Clyde Burrows, and Fred Burrows; and two sisters, Flora Kabul and Frances Harder.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday June 17th 2016 at Derfelts Baxter Chapel in Baxter Springs, KS. Pastor Dave Jackson will officiate. Following the service, Mr. Burrows will be entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home for cremation. A private family burial will take place at Pleasant View Cemetery, rural Baxter Springs, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to Life Choices of Joplin, MO in care of the funeral home.
Visitation will take place on Thursday June 16th 2016 from 6 to 7 p.m..
