Russell "Sonny" Kirkpatrick, Jr., age 76 of Wyandotte, OK, passed away at 9:38 a.m. on Monday, February 29, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.
Born December 22, 1939 in Oklahoma City, OK, he was the son of the late Russell Kirkpatrick, Sr. and Viola Foote Kirkpatrick and lived in Southwest Missouri most of his lifetime. A 1957 graduate of Mount Vernon High School, in his early life he owned and operated a dairy farm in Marshfield. He then drove a truck as an owner-operator. In the early 1990's he worked as a crane operator and driver for Rogers Iron and Metal. He resumed truck driving in 2001 until retiring in 2010 due to a debilitating accident. He attended Wyandotte United Methodist Church.
Survivors include five children, Vicki Patton and husband Joe of Winslow, AR, Misti McKenzie and husband Adam of Washburn, MO, Johnny Norvell and wife Kristen of Garfield, AR, Zachary Kirkpatrick of Carl Junction, Heather Kirkpatrick of the home; one brother, Robert Kirkpatrick and wife Betty of Neosho; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, age two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Parker Mortuary with Rev. John Bates officiating, after which, the family will receive friends. The body will then be cremated. Memorial contributions may be made to Juvenile Arthritis Association or Operation Smile in honor of his grandchildren, Madelynn and Slade.
