Liz Turner

Elizabeth I. “Liz” Turner, 66, of rural Oswego, Kansas passed away at 8:46 p.m., Monday, January 4, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on July 2, 1954 in Oswego to Edward and Kathleen (Kenworthy) Schmidt. She grew up in Oswego and graduated from Oswego High School in 1972. She attended Labette County Junior College and Emporia State University.

On June 16, 1973, Liz and Daniel J. Turner were united in marriage at Mother of God Catholic Church in Oswego. They made their home in Oswego where Mrs. Turner worked as the Librarian at the Oswego Public Library for over 40 years. In addition, she cooked at Service Valley Elementary School and also worked as a housekeeper. 








Liz was a member of Mother of God Catholic Church, it’s Altar Society and played the church organ for many years. She served as a sponsor for the Catholic Youth Organization. She also served on the USD 504 School Board, was a member of the Librarian’s Guild, and belonged to Beta Sigma Phi. Liz enjoyed helping others delivering books to shut-ins. She also enjoyed sewing and gardening. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family.

Survivors include:

Husband – Dan Turner of the home

One Son – Randy Turner and wife Stacy of Neosho, Missouri

Two daughters – Vicki Turner of Tulsa, Oklahoma

Elisa Turner of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Three grandchildren – Katelynn Sanger, Andre Hayes, and Trey Turner and his wife Lexi

One Great-Grandson – Bryant Sanger

One Brother – Edward Schmidt and his wife Rosa of Oswego, Kansas

One Sister – Meg Schneickert of Parsons

Several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one Brother-In-Law, William “Bill” Schneickert.

Cremation has taken place and a private Funeral Mass and Rosary will be held at Mother of God Catholic Church in Oswego.

Friends may call at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons to sign the register book from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2021.
