It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jacob Louis Riggs, who was born on October 3, 2000, in Joplin, MO and tragically left us on his 23rd birthday, October 3, 2023. Known to his friends and family as Jacob, he lived a life marked by adventure, selflessness, and humor.

Jacob was born to loving parents, Dennis Riggs of Oronogo, MO and Lynne Ellebrecht Riggs of Hawk Point, MO. He shared an unbreakable bond with his two brothers, Jesse Riggs of Joplin, Mo. And Dennis Riggs of St. Louis, Mo.

Jacob's treasured family included his beloved children, Bently and Hazel Riggs of Joplin, and his cherished grandmother, Sue Riggs of Atlanta, GA. His family will remember him as a beacon of love and strength, whose laughter filled their home and hearts.

Preceding Jacob in death include a brother, Michael Riggs and his grandfather, Tony Riggs.

Jacob was a proud graduate class of 2017. After graduation, he ventured into the landscaping business where he discovered his love for the outdoors and nurturing nature. In recent years, Jacob found his calling at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, where he worked in Environmental Services. His colleagues admired his dedication, hard work, and the positive energy he brought to the workplace.

Jacob was more than just a loving son, brother, and father. He was an adventurer at heart, always ready for the next journey or discovery. His sense of humor was infectious, often lightening the mood and bringing smiles to those around him. Jacob's selflessness was a trait that defined him.
