Ron Winnett

Ron Edward Winnett, age 66, of Joplin, passed away on Sunday October 8, 2023. He was born November 13, 1956, in Joplin, the son of the late, Carl and JoAnn (McAfee) Winnett. He has been a lifetime Joplin resident.

Ron married Jane Fritsch on October 28, 1978, in Joplin. Together they were blessed with one son. Ron graduated from MSSC with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. He worked in security for Freeman Hospital, retiring in 2021. He attended St. Philips Episcopal Church. 

He was a member of the MAKO Fly Fishers. He enjoyed fly fishing, hiking, canoeing, camping, photography, and cooking. Ron loved animals, especially his border collie “Rocky”.

He is survived by his wife of almost forty-five years, Jane Winnett, Joplin; his son, Sean Winnett and wife Tina, Webb City, MO; and his border collie, Rocky.

A Memorial Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 15, 2023 at the Mason-Woodard Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to any wildlife conservation organization of your choice or the Joplin Humane Society in care of the mortuary.
