William Roehling

William Martin Roehling, D.D.S., age 88, Joplin, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023 at Mercy of Joplin.

Dr. Roehling was born October 4, 1935 in Joplin, son of the late Ord Hendrix Roehling and Arita (Mock) Roehling. He graduated from Joplin High School in 1953 and then attended Pittsburg State University before attending the University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Dentistry where he graduated in 1960 with honors. 







He returned to Joplin and began his practice in General Dentistry which he did until retiring in September of 2022. He was proud to be the First Presbyterian Church Organist from 1960 until 2023. He was also the organist/choir master at the United Hebrew Congregation from 1981 to present.

He was a member of several groups and organizations over the years including First Presbyterian Church of Joplin, Honorary life member at the Joplin Little Theatre and Stone’s Throw Dinner Theatre in Carthage, life member of the American Dental Association, Missouri Dental Association and the Southwest Dental Society. He was a past president of the Joplin Community Concert Association and Production which he did for several seasons, Joplin Council for the Arts, local unit of the American Cancer Society, and the local chapter of the American Guild of Organist. He was a former member of the Salvation Army Band, the Joplin Area Organist Association, and the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.

He was always willing to lend a hand to those in need and was a constant at his church. He will be missed by many.

In addition to his parents, Dr. Roehling was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Roehling on August 4, 2016.






 

Survivors include his cousins, Norman Fretwell and wife Bev of Parkville, MO, John Fretwell of Loma Linda, MO, Bob Peterson and wife Dixie of Nashville, MO, and Wilma McKiffen of Ianthe, MO, many other extended family and friends.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Joplin with Pastor Kira Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are requested to the First Presbyterian Church Organ Fund.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
