Jim Sommerfield, 72, of Carthage passed away Friday, June 3, 2016 at his home. Jim was born December 6, 1943 in Minneapolis, MN. He was the son of Fred Sommerfield and Vivian “Conover” Sommerfield. Jim moved to Carthage in 1978. He served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967 in Germany. Jim had been employed with Steadley’s-Leggett and Platt for 23 years, retiring in 2008.
Jim was united in marriage to Brenda Dianne Stark on October 2, 1999 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. She survives.
Other survivors include one son, Wesley Stark (Amanda) of Carthage and two grandchildren, Carson and Kerrigan and numerous Nieces and Nephew’s. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers; Harold Sommerfield, Don Sommerfield and Fred Sommerfield, Jr. and four sisters; Betty, Mary, Beverly and Virginia. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2016 at the Ulmer Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2016. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
