(From Clark Funeral Home)Barbara J. O'Brien was born October 2, 1944 in Neosho, Missouri, the daughter of Alvin A. and M. Inez (Chilton) Gilbert. She entered into rest on January 11, 2021, following a one year illness at the age of 76.
Barbara was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of Neosho High School class of 1962. She attended PSU and had worked at Community Bank and Trust in Anderson and Neosho for forty eight years, retiring in 2010.
Barbara enjoyed horseback riding, cooking and gardening and she treasured time with her family. She was a member of the Prosperity Baptist Church in Rocky Comfort, Missouri.
Barbara and Bart O'Brien were married on January 17, 1964 at Neosho and he survives.
In addition to her husband of fifty six years, she is survived by her daughter, Tammy O'Brien of Fairview, Missouri; two grandchildren, Michael White and Samantha Scott and husband, Kevin; step granddaughter, Brandy Crosby; six great grandchildren; one brother, Jerry D. Gilbert and wife, Kay of Zephyr Hills, Florida; two sisters in law, Clara Luce of Joplin and Betty Spears and husband, Clair of Neosho and two special friends, Shirley Burke and Patsy Phillips.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents.
