Poor Boy Gwin

Clarence Andrew Gwin, age 84, of La Russell, Missouri, passed away at 8:09 p.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Aurora, Missouri. He was born July 17, 1936, in Springfield, Missouri, the son of Archie and Safronie Belle (Weiher) Gwin.

Poor Boy, as he was known to many, was a 1953 graduate of Miller High School, in Miller, Missouri and was a United States Navy Veteran, serving during the Korean conflict. He was a truck driver for United Van Lines and a farmer.

On January 10, 1996, he married Mary Margaret Newman, in Harrison, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on December 8, 2016.








Poor Boy is survived by four sons, Tim Gwin, of Hoberg, Missouri, Kevin Gwin and Scott Gwin both of La Russell and Brian Gwin and his wife, Dawn, of Miller; one stepson, Randy Linder and Jane Phipps, of Stotts City, Missouri; three stepdaughters, Shirley Fleetwood, of Joplin, Missouri, Shari Copenhaver of Mt. Vernon, Missouri and Barbara Tharp, of Springfield, Missouri; one brother, Richard Gwin and his wife, Sharon, of Hollister, Missouri; two sisters, Mildred Hobson of Columbia, Missouri and Mary Ellen Woodard, of Salem, Oregon; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Poor Boy was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Safronie; wife, Mary; grandson, Hayden Gwin; one sister, seven brothers; stepson, John Linder; stepdaughter, Linda Lewsader; stepgrandson Dustin Inman and two stepson-in-laws, Jerry Fleetwood, and Dan Copenhaver

A graveside service, under the direction of the Morris-Leiman-Mosher Funeral Home, in Miller, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2021, at the Miller Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, in the funeral home chapel.
