Raburn Avon Burnett, age 87, of Lamar, MO died Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at Barton County Memorial Hospital.
Avon was born June 16, 1927 at Jacket, MO to Chester Marvin Burnett and Ruth Ann Elizabeth Bosarde. After High School, he served his country in the United States Navy. He married Vivian Irene Williams and together they raised seven children. He worked 25 years as a Mail Carrier for the US Postal Service, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Garden City, KS VFW and American Legion and he loved to fish. After his wife died in 2010, he moved from Frontenac, KS to Lamar, to be close to family.
Avon leaves behind four sons, Kevin (Marjorie) Burnett, Reno, NV, Jerry (Wendy) Duvall, Lamar, MO, Gary (Barbara) Duvall, Foss, OK, Keith Duvall, Grove, OK; three daughters, Delores (Silver) Dater, Lenexa, KS, Beth King, Golden, CO, Patsy Williams, Corpus Christi, TX; three brothers, Ted Burnett, SC, Bill (Vicki) Burnett, Goshen, IN, Marvin (Barbara) Burnett, Pineville, MO; one sister, Patricia Anderson( John), Blue Springs, MO; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers, Carl and Euel Burnett and three sisters, June Rose Burnett, Jean Scott and Helen Nabb.
Funeral service will be 10:00 am Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Daniel Funeral Home with Military Honors. Graveside service will be 10:00 am Monday, December 29, 2014 at Fairview Park Cemetery, St. John, KS.
