Martha Rose Crandall, age 70, Joplin, passed away at 8:50 p.m. Friday, December 13, 2014 at Mercy Hospital after an illness.
Martha was born October 25, 1944 in Joplin to the late L.G. Crandall and Edith Cox Crandall.
She worked as an LPN at the former St. John’s Hospital for 17 years. She attended Eagle Picher Elementary; North Junior High and Joplin High School. Martha enjoyed singing and playing the piano and fishing. She met and married Darrell Lowry on August 17, 1959. They were separated and divorced in 1976, but remained friends.
Martha was the mother of two children, Laura Rose Lowry Eudy, age 53 of Joplin and Curtis Lowry, age 52 of Joplin. Martha became the proud grandmother in 1981 to grandson Richard Shaffer, age 33 of Joplin; in 1985 to granddaughter Crystal R. Black, age 29, and her husband, Kenneth, of Joplin; and in 1989 to second granddaughter, Martha Romero, age 25, and her husband, Al, of Joplin.
Martha cherished her great grandchildren very much. Morgan Reed, age 14, Malicka Crandall, age 11, Cheyenne Shaffer, age 11, Chakotae Shaffer, age 9, Zachariah Black, age 6, Malachi Shaffer, age 6, Zyleigha Black, age 5, Achillies Pritchette, age 5, Hannah Shaffer, age 4 and Keaton Williams, age 4.
Martha also leaves behind many nieces; nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her brother, Ronnie Crandall and his wife, Judy.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Martin, and four brothers, Bob Martin, Leon Crandall, Bill Crandall and Jesse Crandall.
Martha has been taken for cremation.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
