Jay Rockney Sorenson, age 64 of Joplin, Mo., passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at his home following a six month battle with cancer.
Jay was born on December 6, 1950, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Jerome and Naomi (Keller) Sorenson. He worked for Able Body as a fiberglass technician for many years before illness forced him to retire in 2014.
He is survived by three loving sisters; Crystal Dockery and her husband Terry of Carthage, Mo., Laura Bray and her husband Don of Austin, Tx., Sharon Ross of Springfield, Mo., and many loving nieces and nephews. Jay was preceded in death by his parents and one infant sister, Joan Sorenson.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. Rev. Dr. Myke Crowder, will officiate. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home during a time of visitation on Friday evening from 7 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to the Mercy Infusion Center in care of the mortuary.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Chapel.
