Fred J. Green, age 94, of the Lakeside Community, east of Carterville, a longtime Tulsa, OK resident passed away at 9:25 p.m. Thursday, at the Webb City Health and Rehab Center following a short illness. Fred was born January 3, 1920 in Bell Plane, KS. He resided in Tulsa for 50 years, moving to the Joplin area in April of this year to be close to his sisters. Fred was the owner of Fred’s DX Service Station on Lewis St. in Tulsa over 40 years, retiring in 2000. He was of the Methodist Faith. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II in the Pacific isles. Fred was a member of the Webb City, MO American Legion Post 322 and a longtime member of the Clark Qualls Post 56 American Legion in Tulsa..
Fred was preceded in death by his wife Pauline. Survivors include four sisters, Melba Paszek, Carmichael, CA, Freeda Kalua, Brentwood, CA, Ruth Myers, Webb City, and Joan Lewis, Lakeside Community.
Graveside Services with Military Honors will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Floral Haven Cemetery in broken Arrow, OK with Brandon Lewis officiating. Friends may call at the Hedge-Lewis Funeral Home on Monday from 9 a.m. till 5 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hedge-Lewis Funeral Home of Webb City, MO.
