Matthew Aaron Cook, 19, of Pittsburg, passed away Friday, December 19, 2014, at his home.
He was born December 31, 1994, at Joplin, MO, the son of James Arris and Tabbi Dawn (Span) Cook. He attended Pittsburg schools and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 2013.He worked for Miller’s Professional Imaging and had also worked at McDonald's. There are not enough words to describe how kind of a person Matthew was. As a child he loved planting flowers with his late grandmother Sherry. Matthew was honest, loving and could sometimes be a handful, but we loved him. Matt loved country music, fishing and hanging with his best friend Mike Vaughn. He was always the life of the party and always a hard worker. Matthew will be missed dearly, and will never be forgotten.
Survivors include his parents, Tabbi Dawn Cook and James Arris Cook of Pittsburg, KS; four brothers, James Arris Cook, Jr. of Pittsburg, KS, Keagan Burdick of Pittsburg, KS, Chance Vandorn of Pittsburg, KS, and Arris Cook of Galena, KS; his grandfather Kenneth Vandorn of the home, his grandfather James J. Cook of Neosho, MO, and his grandmother Nancy Cook of Columbus, KS; his uncle, Clay Cook of Wisconsin, two aunts, Honi Dawn Camp of Arma, KS, and Jamie Ball of Scammon, KS. He is also survived by a close friend, Michael Vaughn of Pittsburg, KS, and many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Sherry Vandorn, and his great-grandparents, Harry and Noma Vandorn.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 23) at Brenner Mortuary with Pastor Mike Wilkins and Pastor Jim Sukraw officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the start of the service on Tuesday at the Brenner Mortuary. Burial will follow in the Crocker Cemetery.
