Blanche Ramona Jones, a longtime Wyandotte-Miami area resident, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2014, at the Seneca House Nursing Home in Seneca, MO, at the age of 103 years.
Blanche was born on October 28, 1911 in rural Seneca, MO to James & Minnie (Bennett) Brady. She was the eighth of ten children. She attended Seneca Schools where she enjoyed playing basketball. She graduated from Seneca High School in 1930. She married Harold E. (Babe) Jones on May 21, 1931 at Royal Heights Church in Joplin, MO. He preceded her in death on August 5, 1976. She organized and worked in the first cafeteria at Wyandotte Public Schools, then worked at Pettitt Mfg. Co in Miami, OK and then the Wyandotte Public Schools once again. Blanche loved to sew and hand piece quilts. She made many special quilts for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved playing Canasta with family and friends and shared much time & gave much love to her family. She was much loved woman with a wonderful zest for life. She brought joy to all who knew her. She loved playing dominoes with her grandchildren, reading to them and sharing stories of her childhood.
She is survived by one daughter, Sue Sapp, Wyandotte, Ok and one son, Harold G. (Sonny) Jones and wife June, Miami, OK; three grandchildren, Janice Wawrzyniak, Joplin, MO, Terry Sapp, Wyandotte, OK and Gay Kelley, Diamond, MO; 12 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by 7 brothers, 2 sisters, and one grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Bethel Baptist Church, 12727 Bethel Rd, Seneca, MO with Truman Brady officiating. Burial will be in the Wyandotte Cemetery with great-grandsons, Chris White, Jesse Sapp, Jeffery & Gregory Kelley serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 pm Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at the Funeral Home.
