Jaunita Bastion

Jaunita M. Herron Bastian, age 95 of Joplin, passed away at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Seneca House in Seneca, MO.

Born July 29, 1919 in Colorado Springs, CO, she was the daughter of the late Albert Joseph Herron and Mable Stelts Herron and lived in Joplin area most of her lifetime. She was a graduate of Neosho High School Class of 1936 and was an accountant and co-owner of the former Bastian Wholesale Grocery. She was a member of First Community Church.

On December 25, 1949 she married Arthur J. Bastian in Joplin. He preceded her in death September 30, 1976. Also preceding her were a sister, Nellie Austin; two brothers, Edward and Bill Herron; a niece, Tana Herron and a nephew, Terry Herron.

Survivors include nieces and nephews, Lynda Mills and husband Steven of Warrensburg, MO, Chris Logan and husband Dan of Palo Alto, CA, Tom Austin and wife Laura of Neosho, Larry Herron and wife Linda of Joplin; grandnieces, Mendy Peel, Sarah Linback, Cheryl Logan-Jorgensen, Amanda Austin, Launie Dalton, Susan Wallace and Kim Gingrich; grand nephews, James Austin, Elliot Logan, Michael Lambert, Seth Houston, William, Steve and Tim Herron; 29 great-grand nieces and nephews; six great-great-grand nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26th at Parker Chapel with Dr. Craig Tally officiating. Interment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park with Brock Herron, Ethan Herron, Ben Gingrich, Tim Gingrich, William (Bill) Herron and Rick Wallace serving as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to a Nursing Scholarship established at M.S.S.U. or Gideons International, in care of the mortuary.
