Delmar C. Haase, Sr., age 82 of Joplin, passed away at 1:25 p.m. on Friday, December 26, 2014 at Golden Living Center in Pittsburg, KS after a lengthy illness.
Born July 9, 1932 in Joplin, he was the son of the late Max and Minnie Studyvin Haase and was a lifelong Joplin resident. In his early life he served in the Navy Reserve and was a machinist. Delmar was an electrician and a 60-year member of I.B.E.W. Local No. 95.
On September 1, 1951 he married Shirley J. Smith in Huntsville, AR. She preceded him in death January 24, 1993. He was also preceded by a son, Donald Haase in 2008; a brother, Max; and a sister, Martha Daggett.
Survivors include two sons, Danny Haase and wife Gwenda, Delmar Haase and wife Leslie, all of Joplin; a brother, Marvin Haase and wife Billie of Joplin; two sisters, Darlene LaGasse and husband Louis, Annabelle Sill and husband Bob, all of Joplin; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandsons.
The family extends their gratitude to the staff of Golden Living Center for helping Delmar through the last few years of life.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Bob Simon officiating and grandchildren serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Parker Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
