Johnny Monroe Sill, age 81 of Joplin, passed away at 5:10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at the home of his daughter in Joplin.
Born November 20, 1933 in Joplin, he was the son of the late Herman Albert Sill and Mattie M. Bloyed Sill and lived here all of his lifetime. John worked the majority of his life in auto mechanics and had also been a water well driller and transport driver. He was extremely gifted in fixing most anything. He was a Christian. He also served in the Missouri National Guard and was a former member of Joplin Elks Lodge No. 501.
Survivors include his five children, Marie Rhudy and husband Tom of Rockwall, TX, Johnna Sill of Joplin, Rick Sill and wife Vicki of Webb City, MO, Kayla Martin and husband Bryan of Ione, CA, Shelly Mason and husband Donnie of St. Johns, FL; three siblings, Norma Jean Martin and husband Harold Matthews of Joplin, Audrey Halmrast and husband Lester of Centralia, MO, Carroll A. Sill and wife Jayne of Carl Junction; seven grandchildren, Rich Rhudy, Raquel Moreno, Brett and Blake Hullah, Jimmie Lee and Fayre Mason, Adam Fast; nine great-grandchildren; his former wife Jacque McDaniel and stepchildren, Rob White and Roberta Riley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Central City Christian Church with Rev. Bob Simon officiating. Interment will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery with family serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends following the interment at Faith Tabernacle, located at Belle Center and North Schifferdecker in Joplin, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to Franklin Tech Technology Center for Auto Technology.
