John Philip Elliot, 78, Carthage, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, Missouri. John Philip Elliot was born October 8, 1936 in Wichita, Kansas; the son of the late Philip Dee Elliot and Helen Florence White Elliot. He was a graduate of Shawnee High School, Kansas City, Missouri and attended various Colleges and Universities.John married Doris Anderson on August 26, 1955 in Wichita; she survives. He was a general manager at Dale Electronics, Tempe, Arizona and later sales manager for Dale Electronics, Yankton; South Dakota, retiring in 1992. John was a U. S. Air Force veteran during the Korean Conflict. He and his wife, Doris, were members of the First Church of the Nazarene, Carthage.
Additional survivors include; three daughters, Cheryl Lynn (Darwin) Harts, Norfolk, Nebraska, Sharon Kay Bailey, Phoenix, Arizona and Sandra Sue (Russell) Slocum, Otterville, Missouri; two sons, John Dee (Penni) Elliot, Denton, Texas and Stephen James (Christine) Elliot, New Bern, North Carolina; two sisters, Rosalyn (Louis) Johnsen, Spring, Texas and Dee Ann Tucker, Olathe, Kansas; fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 18 at the First Church of the Nazarene, Carthage. Ministers Mark Kerr and Russell Slocum will officiate. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorial gifts are suggested to First Church of the Nazarene "Send a Kid to Camp" program, in care of Knell Mortuary, 308 W.
