Roy Calvin Simmons, 91, St. Charles, formerly of Neosho, died December 23, 2014 at St. Joseph Hospital.
Roy was born August 14, 1923 in Dunlap, Kansas, the son of Guy and Mattie (Mirfield) Simmons. Roy served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he spent time in the Philippines. After a career in Kansas City in TV sales, he moved to Neosho and was the owner and operator of Green Meadows Mobile Home Park. He enjoyed camping, traveling, bike riding and oil painting. He was a former Elder of the First Lutheran Church in Neosho.
Roy married Marian Bailey on April 23, 1946 in Kansas City, Missouri and she preceded him in death on September 17, 2011. He is survived by two children, April Kruse and husband, Cameron of Neosho, and Shawn Simmons and wife, Robyn of St. Charles; one sister, Marie Shaffer of Laramie, Wyoming; three grandchildren, Daniel Simmons, Emily Simmons and Ashlen Kruse; one great grandchild, Connor Simmons; two sisters-in-law, Jean Smith and Virginia White, both of Norwalk, Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Roy is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Ruth Williams and Betty Simmons, and a brother-in-law, Glenn Bailey.
Funeral services were held Saturday December 27, 2014, 2:00 PM at Clark Chapel of Memories
