Emmet L. Poindexter age 74 of Carthage passed away Saturday at his home.
Emmet was born July 17, 1940 to Ernest and Ella (Hottinger) Poindexter. Emmet was a lifetime Carthage resident and had worked as a Tele-Communications Officer for the Highway Patrol for several years; he had also worked as a carpenter and woodworker in and around the Carthage area. He had retired from the Missouri National Guard. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carthage MO.
Emmet married Sandra Benson May 11, 2002 in Clayton New Mexico. She survives. Other survivors would also include three sons, Jeff Poindexter The Colony, Texas, Anthony Alred Carthage Mo. , and Christopher Alred Joplin MO, two daughters Nicole Alred Houston Texas, and Tina Hatfield Carthage, one sister Mary L. “Susie” Sanders Carthage MO, and Nine grandchildren. Emmet was preceded in death by one daughter Jennifer Kauffman on October 25, 2005 and one brother Robert “Bob” Poindexter April 25, 2013.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday December 24, 2014 at the Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening at Ulmer Funeral Home December 23, 2014 from 6:00 to 7: 00 p.m. Burial will be at Fasken Cemetery northeast of Carthage. Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation c/o Ulmer Funeral Home.
