Dorothy Elenor Fike, age 103, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2016 at the home of her granddaughter in Dallas, Texas following an extended illness.
Dorothy was born December 21,1912, in Carthage, Missouri, to the late Grover and Josephine Wilson. She was a 1931 graduate of Carthage High School. For many years Dorothy worked in the Circuit Clerk office in Joplin and later taught piano in her home. Dorothy was a devoted member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and Music Club in Carthage.
Surviving Dorothy is her daughter, Nancy Van Fleet Claxton of Springfield, Missouri; her beloved grandchildren, Cathy Claxton of Dallas, Texas, Leslie Claxton of Rolla, Missouri, Nancy Hooper of Ft, Worth, Texas, and Sally Larson and her husband Kurt of Springfield, Missouri; great grandchildren Justin Schunck and her husband Phillip, Sean Church, Clayton Hooper, Emily Hooper, Thomas Latimer, and Lindsey Latimer; great-great grandchild, Miller Schunck and nephew Joe Wilson.
Other than her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by three husbands, Donald Van Fleet, Ronald Kinnunen, and Clifford Fike as well as brothers, Albert and Billy Wilson and son-in-law James Claxton.
Graveside services are planned for Tuesday, June 7,2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Carl Junction Cemetery Carl Junction, Missouri.
Memorial donations may be made to JDRF - Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in care of Parker Mortuary.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary Joplin, Missouri.
