(From Clark Funeral Home)Larry Don Friend was born May 9, 1954 in Missouri, the son of Mr. Friend and Ora Brandon (Vickers) Friend. He entered into rest on January 16, 2021, following an illness, at the age of 66.
Larry was a lifelong area resident, only leaving the area to serve in the military with the U.S. Army from 1972-1975. He worked at EFCO as a fork truck operator for twenty three years, retiring in 2018. In his leisure time, Larry found great joy in fishing, being said he loved to “catch ‘em and eat ‘em."
Larry and Phyllis (Tanner) were married on October 19, 1979 and shared forty one years together; she survives at the home.
Additional survivors include two stepchildren, James Mahurin and Angela Powell, both of Granby, Missouri; two brothers, Clifford Friend of St. Joe, Missouri and Jimmy Friend of Carterville, Missouri; one sister Ronda Smith of Carterville, Missouri; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents.
