(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Dennis Lee Myers, age 73, passed away at 8:40 am, Friday, January 1, 2021 at Autumn Home Care, Columbus, KS following an illness.
Mr Myers was born September 5, 1947 in Baxter Springs, KS. He was raised in Columbus by his parents Don and Irene (Cook) Myers who preceded him in death.
Lee’s full and colorful life led him into many adventures touching many lives. He worked on the railroad and was a welder and a bouncer among other things, but his true love was driving his dump truck.
His final three years was spent under the wonderful care of Connie and her staff at Autumn Place in Columbus. His family will always be grateful of them.
He is survived by his daughter Pamela Falkensten and husband Eric; three grandchildren, Sarah, Alex, and Coleman of Joplin, MO; brothers Bill Myers and wife Theresa of Buford, GA and Mike Ricks and wife Rebecca of Oronogo, MO; nieces, Jennifer Myers of Buford, GA and Amy Herr and husband Jeff of Atlanta, GA; nephew Michael Ricks and wife Ashlee of Arma, KS; former step-children he always called his, Scott Anderson of Joplin, MO, and Shawn Adkins of Parsons, KS; grandchildren that called him PaPa Lee and his long-time friend and helper he called “Jake.”
Lee was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Columbus, KS for cremation. The family will plan a memorial graveside service at a later date.
