(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Mitch (Mitchell) L. Whitlow, 52 of Baxter Springs, KS entered into rest on Sunday, January 10, 2021 in Joplin, MO. He was born August 3, 1968 in Ada, OK to Bill (William) H. Whitlow, Jr. and Letha M. Moore Whitlow of Baxter Springs, KS.
Mitch was a Christian and loved the Lord. He attended church at the First United Presbyterian Church through his childhood years and then Tennessee Prairie Friends Church as an adult. When he wasn't attending Church, he was very prayerful.
He attended Baxter Springs High School with his graduating Class of 1986, not graduating with his class, but obtained his G.E.D. He worked for Whitlow Communications out of high school and until he became disabled from a car accident in 2003.
Mitch loved a variety of music and artists with his favorites being from the 1960's and 1970's. He had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. Mitch always knew the right album and songs to play when entertaining or cheering up family and friends. He also knew the stories to tell that would make everyone laugh and want to hear again.
Mitch was also very talented, participating in musicals in school beautifully singing "The Rose" and participating in The Sound of Music Play as Curt von Trapp. He was also very artistic and innovative coming up with creative ideas on small items to paint or design.
Mitch traveled to Colorado spending the summer months annually with his family through his school years. He participated in several other vacations with family to include the Grand Canyon and snow skiing in Colorado which was a family favorite. He travelled and lived in Hawaii on two different occasions. He lived at Lake of the Ozarks and travelled nationally to several different states to include The French Quarter in New Orleans, LA with his sister Teri for 6 years. He then moved to California in 2009. Mitch returned to the Joplin, MO area in 2016 after his Dad passed away.
Mitch was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Letha Whitlow. He is survived and loved by his brother, Bill and wife Lynnette Whitlow; his sisters, Tracie Whitlow, Teri Whitlow and Tina and husband Jimmy Thomason; his Aunt Alean Moore and his Uncle Birnie Whitlow, several nieces, nephews and cousins and his best friend Larry Maxson.
Graveside services will be held at 2 pm, Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at the Baxter Springs Cemetery, 2500 West Hwy 166, Baxter Springs, KS. (Wearing a mask and social distancing are advised.)
