(From Bath-Naylor Funeral Home)Opal “Nadine” Sears, 99, of Shawnee, KS, died peacefully in her sleep on Jan. 2, 2021 at Brookdale of Shawnee.
Nadine was born Oct. 26,1921 to Fred and Daisy Cook Wells in Crestline, KS. She graduated from Riverton High School in 1939.
She married Grover Don Sears on June 7, 1940 in Columbus, KS. He preceded her in death on August 10, 1978. Together, they had 2 two sons, Earl Dale Sears of Shawnee, KS (who preceded her in death), and Fred Sears (living) of Versailles, MO. a brother Bill Wells of Crestline, KS.
Other survivors include 4 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild as well as Earl’s wife, Shirley Hanks Sears and sister in law, Ann Wells of Crestline, KS.
Nadine was kind hearted and had an easy laugh. She enjoyed making crafts and sewing and worked as a seamstress in Carl Junction and Shawnee, KS.
At her request, a graveside service will be held at 11am on Jan. 16, 2021 at the Columbus City Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in lieu of flowers to the Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas in Columbus, KS. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com
