(From Paul Thomas Funeral Home)Frances Marie Payton of Fairland, OK passed from this life Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Fairland Nursing Center in Fairland, OK. She was 89.
Frances was born August 3, 1931 in Walnut, KS to Lester “Dutch” Wilbur and Dorthy “Dode” Catherine (McClelland) Ewan. She had lived in the Fairland area since 1960 moving from Welch. Frances was a homemaker , farmer and rancher. She was a member of the Lone Star Baptist Church, northeast of Afton, OK.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband J.B. Payton in 1997, her parents, 4 brothers LeRoy “Bud” Ewan, Charles “Chuck” Ewan, Raymond Ewan and Milton Ewan, 1 sister Patricia “Ann” Moore.
Survivors include 1 son Bert Payton and wife Victoria of Quapaw, OK, 1 daughter Phyllis Marie Payton of Miami, OK, 4 brothers Jim Ewan of Parsons, KS, Richard Ewan of McCune, KS, Bill Ewan of Diamond, MO and Merle Ewan of St. Paul, KS, 3 sisters Wanda Madl of Pittsburg, KS, Mary ”Sally” Gress of Cincinnati, OH and Marilyn Willis of Omaha, NE, 8 grandchildren Tracy Forinash, Shawn Payton, Travis Burki, Dustin Pittman, Jamie Pittman, Tyan Heifaman, Brian Arnall and Erin Barnes, several great grandchildren and several great – great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Lone Star Baptist Church, NE of Afton, OK. Rev. Brian Gibson will officiate. Interment will be in Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens in Miami. Shawn Payton, Travis Burki, Aaron Heilaman, Cody Reynard and Dustin Pittman will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, OK.
