Wayne Deffenbaugh

Wayne Dale Deffenbaugh, age 77, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

He was born February 13, 1943 in Wellington, Kansas the son of Raymond and Mabel (Lawless) Deffenbaugh. 

On August 25, 1963 he was united in marriage to Frances Louise Creamer, who passed away July 1, 2010. To this union were born two children, Bob and Charlotte. 

 On March 19, 2011 he was united in marriage to Ilene Haynes, who survives. 








 Also surviving are his children, Bob Deffenbaugh and his wife Lisa of Cassville, Missouri and Charlotte Guilliams of Bentonville, Arkansas; stepchildren, Carl Harris of Cassville, Missouri and Gretchen Harris of Cassville, Missouri; one brother, Don Deffenbaugh and his wife Mary of Neosho, Missouri; one sister, Virginia Casey and her husband Paul of Neosho, Missouri; four grandchildren, Austin Deffenbaugh and his wife Ashlyn, Mikala Deffenbaugh, Devin Guilliams and his wife Lynsee and Shayla Guilliams; two great grandchildren, D.J. and Carson Guilliams and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death besides his first wife were his parents and one brother, Bill Deffenbaugh.

Wayne grew up in Newtonia, Missouri and graduated from Midway High School. He received his bachelor degree from Oklahoma Christian College. His entire life was devoted to preaching. 

Throughout his life he preached full time for the Churches of Christ in Oilton and Cleveland, Oklahoma and Lebanon, Cassville and Shell Knob, Missouri and held gospel meetings throughout the Midwest. During a mission trip to Malawi, Africa, he spent six weeks training preachers. 

 He was a member of the Mill Street Church of Christ, for thirty years he served as a session director at Green Valley Bible Camp in Rogers, Arkansas, and was a member of the Rotary Club in Cassville. He drove a school bus for Cassville several years. Some of his favorite pastimes were fishing, gardening, playing basketball and he especially enjoyed jogging with Ronnie Cowan. He loved his family. His first loves were God and the church.

Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Mill Street Church of Christ in Cassville under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. His brother, Don Deffenbaugh and Laith Hayward will conduct the services. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cassville.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Monday at Mill Street Church of Christ in Cassville.

The family is requesting that masks be worn.

Contributions may be made to Green Valley Bible Camp in memory of Wayne.
