Arleta Bowers

Arleta M. Bowers, age 88, of Joplin, passed away at her home on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 in Joplin.
Ms. Bowers, daughter of the late John and Hazel (Ayers) Green, was born on January 17, 1933 in Rich Hill, MO. 

She was raised in Rich Hill, and she was a graduate of Rich Hill High School. Later, she was employed with the Nevada Habilitation Center as an office secretary. 

On April 6, 1957 she was united in marriage to Harold Clutter, who preceded her in death in 1984. She then met Gerald Bowers, who she joined in marriage on June 28, 1986 in Nevada, MO. He preceded her in death on January 18, 2018. Together they moved to the Joplin area in 1993 to make their home. 








Arleta was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed the times spent with her family making memories. Arleta was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Joplin.

Survivors include her children, Terri Post, of Joplin, and Michael Clutter and wife, Laurie Gray, of Spring, TX; five grandchildren, Brian Post, Steven Post, Samuel Post, Samantha Clutter and Kason Clutter; one great-granddaughter, Bella; her sister, Barbara Donnington, of Sunrise Beach, MO; and a host of other extended family members.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Friday, November 5, 2021 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Joplin with burial to follow at 3:00 p.m. at Green Lawn Cemetery in Rich Hill, Missouri. Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, November 4th, in the chapel of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary with visitation to follow.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary, Joplin.
