Tom Holland

(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)

Thomas (Tom) L. Holland was born October 26, 1960 to Paul and Rose Holland. Tom is gone way too soon and while his heart may have given up, his personality and legacy will live on in those he touched and loved, especially his family!

The youngest of 3 boys Tom shared his childhood with brothers, Paul Holland, Jr and Bob Holland. The Holland boys were always a trio in everything they did. They were a joy to everyone and rambunctiously charged through life from playing as children do in their childhood days to playing together in the Sour Mash Band.

Tom loved singing and being in the band and his love for music and words can be seen in his “ramblings” as he calls it and when he would post things on FaceBook.

Tom married Colleen (Drake) Holland in April 1983 and started a family. Tom smiled big, he hugged big, he loved big! His boys, TJ and Casey, gave him a run for his money and kept him on his toes. As their dad he coached them in sports, took them to concerts, introduced them to their love of music, and provided a guide through this big ole thing we call life! He never let them down, he may not have always been the perfect dad but he loved them unconditionally! Life gave Tom a daughter by happenstance when he and Colleen were chosen to be parents to our great-niece Bailey Drake. He never blinked an eye when he was asked to take on the task of being a dad to a girl so late in life, he just jumped in! And just like life with the boys, it was not always easy but he loved her too, unconditionally!

Tom worked in the auto parts industry for many years both with O’Reilly Automotive and United Automotive, he crushed cars with his father-in-law and brothers-in-law, owned and operated Black Cat Liquor in Carterville, dispatched with the MNA Railroad for several years, he was a counter salesman at Joplin Paint, he was a crew manager at Jasper Products thru Adecco and his last position was at Heartland Pet Food first as fork truck driver and lastly as an inventory clerk. Tom loved variety and everything he did, he did with all he had.

Tom leaves behind his wife of 38 years Colleen (the love of his life), 2 sons TJ Holland of Winterset, IA, Casey Holland (Courtney) of St. Peters MO ,a daughter Bailey Drake of the home, 2 grandsons Noah Holland, Whitley Holland, 2 granddaughters Paisley Holland and Virginia Holland. Brother Paul Holland and Sister-in-Law Peggy, Cathy Cole and Brother-in-Law, Duane Cole as well as Brothers-in-law Craig Drake & Clay Drake and a little girl who stole his heart Lexy Miller. Tom was preceded in death by his brother Bob Holland, parents Paul and Rose, grandparents Ben and Clara Bischoff, and niece Meghan Drake.

Tom was loved by a host of nieces and nephews and loved sharing his wit and “wisdom” with them whether they needed it or not, Alisha (Devon), Jenna (Drew), LP, Scotty, (Brandy) Micki (Joe), Colt (Brittany) Chase, Blake, and many great nieces and nephews.

You’ll never see me no more, Until I reach that crystal shore, and sometimes I know that ain’t too far away…

Funeral Services will be held 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Richard Chambers, Minister will officiate. Burial will be in Stone Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Joe Stembridge, Scotty Drake, Colt Drake, LP Holland, Chase Drake, and Trevor Drake.
