He served in the US Army in Vietnam from 1970-1972 and was very proud of his military service and his son-in-law William’s service.

Mike worked in the oil fields and did construction for most of his life. He was an all around handyman. An expert in sheetrock. He also knew his way around the restaurant business and was a fabulous bartender.

He played basketball and football and danced in Pow Wows in his youth while living in Cortez, Colorado. He loved sports, especially his Denver Broncos.

He loved fishing with his sons-in-law and & grandsons. Sometimes with his daughters, even if one caught the hook in her thumb and another after catching a fish kept spitting at it.

He loved watching Jeopardy and would impress his girls because he seemed like he knew ALL the answers. He was also very artistic!

He was always teasing his kids and grandkids and loved to make everyone laugh. He was Papa Mike to many!

Mike and Leah loved to travel and visit their grandkids. They also loved to go bird watching, especially for eagles.

Mike always gave great advice like “Never Criticize, always encourage.” He always helped those around him, taking many people under his wing.
