(From Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home)Robert (Bob) Griffith went to his eternal rest on November 11, 2021. He passed away in Houston, Texas after an extended illness.
Bob was born June 16, 1933 in Seneca, MO to William Cloud and Ethel (Chester) Griffith.
He married his wife, Fannie (Harding) on March 29, 1952 They moved to Point Comfort, TX Bob was drafted and served in the Army from 1953 to 1955 and in the Army Reserves until 1962.
While in active duty he and was stationed in Heilbrounn, Germany. He returned from the Army and worked for Alcoa in Point Comfort until his retirement in 1984. He was also a member of the Alcoa 25 year club.
He became a member of the Masonic Lodge in Pt. Lavaca in 1973. He and Fannie moved to Hallettsville, Texas in 1996. After moving to Halletsvillle he joined the Masonic Lodge there and was awarded the Golden Trowel. The Golden Trowel is the highest award a lodge can bestow upon an individual member.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hallettsville and served as the chairman of buildings and grounds for many years.
Bob also served as a volunteer driver for cancer patients. He and Fannie enjoyed square dancing for many years. He was also a big wrestling fan and thought that was the only true sport there ever was.
Bob loved working on cars, lawn movers and other equipment. He was always willing to help his neighbors with whatever they needed done. He always planted a big garden and gladly shared the fruits and vegetables of his labors. Bob had a love of animals that he has passed on to his children and grandchildren. He loved going to garage sales and said many times that traffic laws didn't apply when you were trying to get to a garage sale. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and 1 sister. He was also proceeded in death by many cats that all led a wonderful life by his side. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Fannie (Harding) Griffith, children Robert (Bobby), Barbara Trygstad(Chuck) and Terri Turner (Dennis), grandchildren Ryan Trygstad (Katy), Kirk Trygstad, Elyssa Szirpan(Aaron Estes) and Samantha Szkirpan. He is survived by sisters, Patricia Hill and Irma Lipe, both of Seneca, Missouri and numerous nieces and nephews including Sharon (Jerry) Winchester who made countless visits to Texas to see Bob and Fannie. She could always bring a smile to his face and he looked forward to her visits.
Bob will be cremated and his ashes carried back to Seneca, Missouri. A memorial service will be set at a later date.
