(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Sharon Kay Wood, long time resident of Joplin, Missouri passed away peacefully at the age of 77 on November 20, 2021 at her senior living community in Belton, Missouri.
Sharon was born on August 1, 1944 in Celina, Ohio to Arthur and Bertha Granger. She was a 1962 graduate of Celina High School.
She grew up on a farm in Erastus, Ohio until she married Jerry Wood on June 1, 1963. Together they moved to Colorado and Wyoming before Eventually settling down in Joplin, Missouri for good. Sharon worked in the real estate title business for many years in the Joplin and Carthage area.
Together, Shery and Jerry enjoyed music and collecting and restoring juke boxes. She and Jerry shared an interest in lighthouses and travelled to see them in person across the country.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Bertha Granger, her sister Barb Schwenzer, and her husband Jerry Wood.
She is survived by her sister Cheryl Amedeo of Chandler, Arizona, step-sister Pat Moeller of Celina, Ohio, sister-in-law Nancy Wilkinson of Marietta, Georgia, daughter Lori Wood-Oswald of Kansas City, Missouri, son Todd Wood of Oronogo, Missouri, and grandchildren Taylor Oswald, Ashlyn Oswald Beiersdorf, Kiley Oswald and Isabella Wood.
Funeral services have been scheduled for Monday, November 29, at the Mason-Woodard Chapel at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends during the visitation from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Joplin Humane Society in care of the mortuary.
