Kay Harrington

Eva Kay Harrington, age 76, Joplin, passed away Friday, November 26, 2021 at Freeman Hospital Joplin.

Kay was born July 14, 1945 in Yuba, California to the late Frank and Maxine (Dainty) Beauchamp.

As a young girl Kay moved with her family from California to Kansas where Kay graduated from Columbus High School. She was a hard worker and worked many years for Cardinal Scale before retiring.








Kay married Eugene Claire Harrington, Jr. on June 20, 1964 in Columbus, Kansas. Together they shared 47 precious years together before his passing on October 12, 2011.

When she wasn’t working, Kay focused on family. She was a wonderful mother to two children and grandmother to five grandchildren. She was the caretaker for all, always putting others needs before her own. She loved spending time in the kitchen-cooking German chocolate cake, bread and cookies. Holidays and family gatherings were especially important to Kay. She was an avid reader and loved to make and give away throw blankets. Kay was also known to give to others orange chocolate candy, a tradition that her husband Eugene started and she continued. Kay cherished the time spent and memories created with family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents Kay was also preceded in death by sisters, Frances John and Theresa Beauchamp; and brother-in- law Ralph Thomas.

Survivors include her son, John Harrington and wife, Nancy; daughter, Tina Surgi and husband, Paul; grandchildren, Nathan Harrington and wife, Michelle, Dustin Harrington and fiancé, Karen, Justin Harrington, Theresa Surgi-Harrison and husband Chris, Aaron Surgi and wife, Katheryn; sisters, Beckie Thomas, Wanda Reed and husband, Roger; brother, Edward Beauchamp; brother-in-law, Bob John; together with a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral Services are planned for Thursday at 12:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Reverend Francisco “Paco” Gordillo officiating. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Thursday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
