(From Parker Mortuary)Thomas Allen Prince, also known as our “T-Pa”, age 75 of Holiday Island, Arkansas, passed away Friday, November 19, 2021.
Tom was born September 9, 1946 in Norman, Oklahoma, to Thomas Ivan and Jane (Everhart) Prince. He graduated from Joplin High School in 1965. During high school, Tom worked for Bunny Bread on Main Street, where his father and uncle also worked.
On September 17, 1966, he was united in marriage to Linda Boyce and together they had three children. Tom served in the National Guard for 6 years, joining at the age of 23.
He and Linda moved to Kansas City where he learned his trade of building, which later developed into Prince Construction. Prince Construction grew in the Joplin area with the development of subdivisions made up of his custom-built homes. He and Linda also lived in Shell Knob where Tom’s business grew into building custom lake homes. He owned and operated his business until retiring to Holiday Island in 2012.
In his free time, Tom loved to fish and he enjoyed many years of family fishing trips to Canada. Those trips won’t be the same without him. He loved upbeat music, a good Corvette, and his family – especially his grandchildren.
Tom was raised in the Catholic church and if you ever saw the hands and feet of Jesus truly at work, you saw Tom. He was the definition of selfless. Tom was generous to a fault and focused on fulfilling the needs of others – big and small – and always without question or hesitation. He was loving, encouraging, and always caring. T-Pa made the world a better place and we are better people for knowing and loving him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Jeffery; and three siblings, Mike, Pat, and Treva Prince.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Linda; two children, Gina Gooch and husband, Mark, and Rusty Prince and wife, Margaret; five grandchildren, Derek Gooch and wife, Paige, Nathan Gooch, Evan Prince, Isabelle Prince, and Ava Prince; siblings, Paul Prince, Jamie Prince, Maria Harmon, and Donnie Prince; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Parker Mortuary with Michael Mattox officiating. The family will receive friends before services on Wednesday beginning at 1:00 p.m.
The family will hold a visitation for his Shell Knob friends on Tuesday, November 30, from 5-7:00 p.m. at Shell Knob Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Ozark Food Harvest of Springfield or Smile Train.
Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
