(From Parker Mortuary)Betty L. Baldwin, age 88, Joplin, passed away at 4:40 p.m. Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Westgate at Wildwood Ranch.
Betty was born April 16, 1933in Ignacio, Colorado to the late Marion J. Adcock and Laura Grace (Crutchfield) Adcock.
Betty graduated from Duenweg High School and lived in Los Angeles for several years. She returned to the Joplin area in 1974. Betty enjoyed a successful career as a telephone operator with AT&T (the former Southwestern Bell Telephone Company). She was a hard worker and quite proud of the fact that she worked over 30 years, before retiring in 1984. Betty was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Duenweg. She was a self-taught keyboardist and enjoyed playing along when needed.
When she wasn’t working, Betty focused on family. She was an amazing mother to four boys and grandmother to ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was the caretaker for all, always putting others needs before her own. She loved spending time in the kitchen-cooking pies (her husband taught her how to make the dough) and fixing big Sunday dinners. Holidays were especially important to Betty. She never missed an opportunity to take pictures with the family. Betty loved her cats and also enjoyed making crafts, scrapbooking, and playing bingo. Betty cherished the time spent and memories created with family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Betty married Donald Charles Baldwin on October 24, 1952 in Huntsville, Arkansas. Together they shared 58 precious years before his passing on June 29, 2011.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd Endicott; a sister, JoAnn King; two grandchildren, Michael Casey Baldwin and Matthew ‘Buddy’ Baldwin; and one great grandchild, Evan James Sargent.
