(From Parker Mortuary)Jane Newton passed away on November 13, 2021, surrounded by her loved ones. Jane was born to the late Joy and Hazel Beck on October 28, 1936 in Cassville, Missouri.
Jane was a mother, nana, sister, aunt and friend to many. She loved her family with all her heart. As a young lady, she taught special education in Joplin. She traveled the world to buy diamonds, gold, pearls and precious stones for Newton’s Jewelers. Jane owned and operated Dazzle Salon during the 1980’s and 90’s. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Her smile was contagious and she was kind to all.
Family meant everything to Jane. Pride filled her voice when she had the chance to talk about any of them. Her first born, Brian, owns and operates the family business, Newton’s Jewelers and resides in Joplin with his wife, Peggy and their son, James. Her second born, Bruce, served twenty years in the United States Army and three years United States Marines, serving in both Iraq in 2003 and Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Bruce is employed at Sam’s Club and also resides in Joplin.
In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her first husband, Larry Kinser; her second husband, Bunny Newton and best friend, Joanie Graham.
Survivors include her two sons, Brian Newton and wife, Peggy, Joplin, Bruce Newton, Joplin; grandchildren, Sam Newton and wife, Jess Anne, Lacey Tidwell, and husband, Joe, Aubrey Johnson and husband, Kyle, Jessica Jane and husband, Matt, James Newton; six great grandchildren; two siblings, Dr. James Beck and wife, Sara, Joyce Meador and husband, Geary; three nephews, Shannon Meador, Justin Beck, Jarrett Beck; her best friend, Carolyn Bennett; and last but not least, her morkie, Pennypoo.
A memorial visitation is planned for Tuesday, November 23, from 5-7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary. A private family memorial service will be held Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary with Pastor Eric Lang officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Downtown Alliance, in care of Parker Mortuary.
The family would like to thank the physicians, nurses and staff at Freeman Hospital for their kindness and compassion in caring for Jane.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
