(From Clark Funeral Home)Lawrence Arden “Larry” Singleton, age 76, of Goodman, Missouri, passed away at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born May 17, 1945, in Galveston, Texas, the son of the late Robert Lee and Betty Meda (Widmann) Singleton.
Larry was a 1964 graduate of Newton High School in Newton, Texas, and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, serving during the Vietnam Era from 1964-1968.
On June 22, 1969, he married Linda Joyce West in Houston, Texas. Larry started working in sales for Sears and Roebuck in Texas. He then moved with his family to the Newton/McDonald counties where he raised chickens for Hudson Farms in Longview, Missouri. Larry returned to Texas for a short period, working as a furniture store salesman before coming back to the Neosho/Goodman area. He retired from La-Z-Boy in 2007.
Larry enjoyed golf, hunting, and fishing, and looked forward to his annual fising trip to Galveston Bay in Texas. His favorite pastime was auctions, flea markets, and garage sales. Larry called this “going junkin” and even had booths at area flea markets. Larry was incredibly proud of obtaining his Pilot’s License and his Instrument License, which allowed him the privilege of flying his family to various places.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; one daughter, Wendy Stites, and her husband, Larry, all of Goodman; three granddaughters, Shay Judy of Joplin, Madisun Branstetter, and her husband, Chance, of Neosho; and Raegan Stites of Neosho; and great-grandchildren, Paisley and Lynley Branstetter.
His parents, one brother, Douglas Singleton, and sister Patricia Dunning preceded him in death.
A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri. Visitation will be held from 5:00-6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 1, at Clark Funeral Home in Neosho, Missouri. Memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66, Neosho, MO 64850.
